On love and death
I think falling in love is similar to dying.
Perhaps not the usual death that involves a coffin
and the earth opening up to swallow you whole…
but similar.
I think falling in love could be dying.
Maybe not in the typical gut wrenching sensation of losing another
where you feel nothing is greater than this moment in the magnitude
it will ripple in your life…
but close.
I think falling in love… demands dying.
it’s not exactly leaving everything you are no longer and returning
to the ultimate union with the universe where
only the core of you continues…
but it feels like that.
I think love is death.
Love is the death of all the lies we tell, ourselves.
Love is the death of all the limits we deny, ourselves.
Love is the death of indifference we carry to one another.
Love is the death of old stores that have smothered us.
I think love is death of the self,
so that there is room
for something else.
